1 – Palaeontological Association Travel Grant – AWARDED

The Palaeontological Association are sponsoring five travel grants of £100 each to support students and early career scientists with limited funds. Participants who wish to apply for a PalAss travel grant must send their abstract via email (using the template provided). This should also be accompanied by a letter of support from their host institution by the 5 January 2018. The Scientific Committee will communicate the successful grant awards in time to benefit from early registration fees.

In return for the grant, the Palaeontological Association kindly requests that awardees consider submitting articles for publication in Palaeontology. The reference number of the grant is PA-GA201712. This reference number should be quoted in all outputs relating to this grant, including awardees’ abstracts.

2 – SAGES (Scottish Alliance for Geoscience, Environment and Society) student prizes and grant-in-aid – AWARDED

SAGES sponsors 3 poster prizes for students.

All students submitting posters will be automatically enrolled in the contest.

SAGES also offers eight travel grants of £100 each to support students and early career scientists with limited funds. Participants who wish to apply for a SAGES  grant must send their abstract via email (using the provided template). This should also be accompanied by a letter of support from their host institution by the 5 January 2018. The Scientific Committee will communicate the successful grant awards in time to benefit from early registration fees.

3 – IODP grant-in-aid – AWARDED

UK-IODP offers grants-in-aid to IODP students to cover 50% of the early bird student registration fee (£135). UK-IODP additionally offers travel grants of £100 to support students and early career scientists with limited funds. Participants, who wish to apply for one of the IODP grants, must send their abstract via email (using the provided template). This should also be accompanied by a letter of support from their host institution by the 5 January 2018. The Scientific Committee will communicate the successful grant awards in time to benefit from early registration fees.

EXTERNAL FUNDS

4 – TMS grant-in-aid

Grants-in-Aid are awarded annually to help student members and early career researchers (within 10 years of obtaining their last degree) of the Society in their fieldwork, conference attendance, or any other specific activity related to their research which has not been budgeted for. Grants-in-Aid can not be awarded for miscellaneous expenditure, neither can they be awarded retrospectively. 5 – Geosciences 2018 Travel Award

Geosciences is inviting applications for two Travel Awards for postdoctoral
fellows and PhD students to attend a conference of their choice

6 – Cushman Foundation for Foraminiferal Research Student Travel Award

This award from the Cushman Foundation for Foraminiferal Research supports current undergraduate, masters’ and doctoral students who wish to present their results on research projects at Foundation-approved professional meetings or workshops in either an oral or poster session.
