Please note that the weather in Edinburgh in June can range from hot and sunny to rainy very quickly; it is not uncommon to experience all four seasons in one day!

The electricity voltage in the UK is 230 V, 50 Hz, and electrical plugs have three rectangular pins. Even if your computer or other electric appliances has an internal converter and will run on 230 V, you will probably need a plug adapter for the UK outlets.

The monetary currency in the UK is the pound (£); the smallest unit is the penny. You can exchange money when you first arrive at the airport or withdraw money in pounds from one of the many automated bank teller machines (ATM’s) at the airport or in Edinburgh using your credit card or EC debit card. All major department stores and hotels will accept globally recognised credit cards (e.g.: Visa, MasterCard). Most shops or restaurants also accept credit cards, but taxis and buses require cash payments. Hence, it would be advisable to keep cash on hand (notes and coins).

Registration pack

Registration will start on Sunday June 17th at 12:00. Your registration pack can be picked up at the JMCC Foyer on the Pollock Halls campus. Registration packs will be available to later arrivals at the registration desk throughout the symposium.
