Symposium Overview

FORAMS 2018 “Foraminifera in a Changing World” will be held in Edinburgh on 17-22 June 2018 in the John McIntyre Conference Centre (JMCC) and South Hall (Pollock Halls campus, University of Edinburgh), thanks to the involvement and support of Edinburgh GeoSciences. Technical sessions will consist of four days of oral and poster presentations supplemented by social events and a mid-symposium excursion day. The St Andrews Workshops will follow the symposium.

Scientific Program

Plenary Lectures: keynote lectures which highlight the current mainstream research approaches.

Technical Sessions: Talks and posters covering the diverse aspects of the foraminiferal studies and their applications.

TMS Spring Foram & Nanno Meeting on Friday 22 June.

St Andrews Workshops: Open forums for discussion on selected research topics will run over Saturday and Sunday 23-24 June at the University of St Andrews. Transfer to St Andrews will be available from the symposium venue.

Social Events

Sunday June 17th

Opening ceremony and icebreaker reception: early to late evening at the Playfair Library Old College, University of Edinburgh.

Tuesday June 19th

Cushman Foundation Reception: early evening (South Hall).

Cushman Foundation Ceilidh (Scottish dancing): late evening (South Hall).

Wednesday June 20th

Mid-symposium break: several field trip and social options.

 Thursday June the 20th

Symposium Reception and Dinner: early to late evening in the ballroom, Edinburgh Assembly Rooms .

Friday June 22nd

Closing ceremony:  This will take place at 16:00 followed by bidding for hosting FORAMS 2022. We invite participants who are interested in organising FORAMS 2022 to prepare a 5 min presentation. The symposium will close at 18:00.
